But when that dealer is murdered, Archy is plunged into a mystery that will end with suicide, a broken heart, and learning a family secret that he would have liked not to have known about. 2McNally's Luck ()[3]Pursuing two seemingly unrelated discrete inquiries—one regarding a catnapping ransom for a "fat Persian with vile disposition,",[3]:&#;1&#; the other a series of threatening letters sent to the rich wife of a poet whose first book is called "The Joy of Flatulence,"[3]:&#;28&#;—Archy spots a link: both the ransom note and the letters were created by the same word processor. My favorite series is the Archy McNally series.  Archy McNally is the sole member of a division of the family law firm entitled &#;Discreet Inquiries&#;.  He has a playboy personality, an informal manner of living, and a quick wit which are the opposite of his strait-laced attorney father. Despite his unorthodox approach
